2. What colors and types of hair and skin can laser reduction treat?

The laser permanent hair reduction treatment can be performed on any type of hair or skin color.* However, hair color is an important factor in the procedure’s efficacy. Because the laser energy is specifically absorbed by the melanin, that is, the dark pigments within the hair follicle, the hair reduction treatment is more effective in darker colored hair. 5. What does the procedure consist of? 

First the specialist will have a consultation with you to make a skin assessment and establish a treatment plan. They will also take pictures before and after the treatment series to prove its efficacy A cooling gel is applied to the treatment area and then the specialized applicator is used to deliver light into the skin. The light energy is absorbed by the melanin, which is the pigment within the hair, causing the temperature to rise and destroying the follicle while also preventing further regrowth.

6. Is the procedure painful?

7. How long does the LumiMax PL treatment last?

The treatment usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the treatment area. For instance, it takes 1 minute to remove hair from the upper lip, 5 to 7 minutes for both underarms and 25 to 30 minutes for the legs.

8. Why is the LumiMax PL diode laser technology better than IPL technology?

In body areas such as the back, where hair growth is slower, treatment sessions are performed every 12 to 16 weeks.

10. What is the pre-treatment care?

Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds and self bronzers during the weeks prior to the first session and during the course of the treatment series.

11.  What areas of the body can be treated?

12. What does the post-treatment care consist of?

It is important to avoid sun exposure and sun beds during the 7 days following the treatment. We recommend using hypoallergenic makeup as well as a sunscreen lotion of minimum 30 SPF.  

13. Is laser hair reduction recommended for any type of hair?

This treatment is effective and safe for any type of skin; however, it is more effective in dark hair. The specialist will first do an evaluation to establish the proper treatment settings and ensure the optimal effectiveness of the procedure in any type of patient.

14. What can be expected after the permanent hair reduction treatment?

There will be some redness in the treated area but this will disappear in a few minutes. The hair will remain in its place, and for about 10 days it will appear as if it is still growing but at a slower pace. The treated hair will fall off naturally around one to three weeks after, leaving the skin feeling smoother. At the end of the treatment series the LumiMax PL will have removed 90% if the hair.
